Online Programs Maintain Their High Rankings

The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings show that the university’s online programs are continuing their tradition of excellence across a wide range of academic disciplines.

NC State’s online programs have made another strong showing in the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings, with five programs earning top-10 spots in their respective fields for 2026.

The online master’s degree in educational administration made the biggest jump in the rankings, climbing from No. 15 in 2023 to No. 6 this year. The online master’s degree in electrical engineering also came in at No. 6 in the nation. Other programs that improved in this year’s rankings are the online master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, which rose from No. 19 in 2023 to No. 14 this year; and the online master’s degree in education, which climbed from No. 20 last year to No. 18 in 2026.

Also finishing in the top 10 are the online master’s degree in civil engineering at No. 9; the online master’s degree in education for veterans at No. 10, and the online master’s degree in mechanical engineering, also at No. 10.

Coming in right behind those programs are the online master’s degree in industrial engineering at No. 11 and the online business analytics MBA at No. 12.
