Career goals

For Price, when considering his long-term career goals, he wanted to sharpen his risk management skill set in the private equity space by building a comprehensive playbook to help private equity firms implement effective risk strategies across their portfolio companies. When considering postgraduate studies, the MRA program appealed to him because it offered a pragmatic opportunity to learn graduate-level business concepts through a risk-focused lens. “This program is uniquely positioned among business schools in the southeast to provide a specialized education in risk analytics, which directly aligns with my goals,” he explained.

Why Jenkins?

As a lifelong NC State fan, Price was thrilled to learn that Poole College of Management had developed the Jenkins MRA program. “As a safety practitioner transitioning to broader risk management, this program provides a perfect opportunity to gain exposure to advanced business concepts while honing my competencies in risk analytics. NC State’s emphasis on practical application and industry relevance makes it the ideal choice for advancing my career.”

“This journey has given me the unique opportunity to lead by example, showing my children the value of prioritizing higher education with purpose.”

Daily life

Price describes his day-to-day life in one word: dynamic. “First and foremost, I am a proud husband to my exceptional wife, Danielle, and father to Ryan (10) and Austen (8). My family fully supports my educational goals, and this journey has given me the unique opportunity to lead by example, showing my children the value of prioritizing higher education with purpose.” In addition to his studies, Price serves as a U.S. Marine reservist, working with the marine innovation unit. His hobbies revolve around the outdoors – hunting, fishing, hiking and working out, all of which Price says helps him recharge and stay active.

What makes it great

Upon entering the Jenkins MRA program, Price quickly noticed how the program faculty had a genuine desire to see him succeed. “While many of the concepts are entirely new to me, the faculty consistently go out of their way to ensure I have the resources and support to learn and retain them. Their dedication and approachability have made an enormous difference in my confidence and ability to master challenging topics.”

Final thoughts

The Jenkins MRA program, Price believes, has already proven to be a transformative experience, both personally and professionally. “Balancing family life, my role as a Marine reservist and my career in risk management while pursuing this degree has been challenging but deeply rewarding. This journey is not just about advancing my career – it’s about setting an example for my children and showing them the value of hard work, resilience and lifelong learning. Through the support of my professors, peers and family, I’ve gained the confidence to tackle complex problems and think critically about risk in ways I hadn’t before. I’m excited to continue this journey and apply the lessons learned to make a meaningful impact.”
