The Science – Secondary Education Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) provides the opportunity for students who already have a bachelor’s degree in a science concentration to gain knowledge about teaching as a profession. Teaching entails more than extensive knowledge in a scientific discipline; the MAT provides foundational experience and knowledge about assessing students, designing curriculum and working with parents, staff and students to promote learning. The program explores methodologies for overcoming obstacles to learning and adapting lessons to suit the needs of the student population. Graduates of the program are ready to teach science at the secondary school level.
